Ernestine Pennington, 75, of Poplar Bluff, MO passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017 at her residence.
She was born on June 16, 1941 to Ernest and Onia (Mobley) Morrison in Neelyville, MO. She graduated from Poplar Bluff High School in 1959. On August 27, 1959, she married Rayburn Pennington in Poplar Bluff, MO. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2016.
She and Rayburn loved to travel all over the United States and her favorite place to visit was the Sequoia National Park in Northern California. Most of all she enjoyed being at home taking care of Rayburn and spending time with her family and Flint.
Ernestine worked with Tim Bilbrey in several gift shops throughout Poplar Bluff.
She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff where she played the organ for several years.
Ernestine is survived by daughter, Brenda (Steve) Smith of Jackson, MO; one granddaughter, Stephanie (Boone) Hardy of Lamar, MO; and one great-grandson, Flint Hardy.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Darrell Pennington; her brother, Benny Morrison and her parents.
Visitation will be held Friday, May 5, 2017 from 6-8:00 pm at Westwood Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10:00 am at Westwood Baptist Church. Burial will take place in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery. Steve Proctor will be officiating the service.
