Betty Sue Hovis, 76, of Poplar Bluff, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Betty was born on May 6, 1943 in Sikeston, MO the daughter of William Franklin and Effie Emmaline (Burkhardt) Hoots.
Betty was retired having served others for many years as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant.
Betty greatly enjoyed being outdoors, whether it be working in her garden, caring for her rose bushes and willow trees, fishing or watching hummingbirds. She also enjoyed listening to Conway Twitty, crocheting and trips to the casino. Most of all Betty loved her family and spending time with them.
Betty is survived by her children, Jennifer (Courtney “Dani”) Brown of Poplar Bluff, Steven (Jessica Carter) Hovis of Poplar Bluff, Jimmy Hovis Jr. of Malden, MO, Melinda Hovis of Malden, MO, Hosea Howard of Sikeston, MO and Gary Tidwell of Poplar Bluff; grandchildren, Charles Skaggs of Marble Hill, MO, Kimberly Skaggs of Malden, MO, Sandra Rodriguez of Marble Hill, MO, Victoria Hovis of Belleville, KS, Devan Hovis of Belleville, KS, Trea Goodwin of Puxico, MO, Mason Hovis of Advance, MO, Eli Hovis of Advance, MO, Katie Hovis of Wappapello, MO, Toby Carter of Dexter, MO, Jaden Carter of Dexter, MO, Rilee Hovis of Dexter, MO, Xavier Hovis of Poplar Bluff, Tyson Tidwell of Poplar Bluff and Bella Brown of Poplar Bluff and twelve great-grandchildren. Other survivors include, a sister, Mary Louise Loveless of Birds Corner, MO and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her siblings, Red Buddy Hoots, Haskall Hoots, Donald Mickey Hoots, Isabell Elsperman and Shirley (Dale) Callow.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 in the Chapel at Moore Funeral Service, 1100 Iron Bridge Road , Poplar Bluff, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Funeral services will begin at Noon.
